According to MSN

The US has begun issuing passports that contain biometric information stored on remotely readable microchips, in spite of lingering security and privacy concerns.

The new “E-Passports” have so far been issued only to US diplomats, as part of a pilot programme conducted in collaboration with Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. They will be introduced nationwide by October.

I need to take my own advice and renew mine soon!

It looks like Dave Sifry blew his lead, unfortunately. I remember talking to Eric Schmidt in Berkeley a year and a half ago, and he said that Google had too much on its plate to go after blog search. That’s changed, with today’s announcement that Google is going to do blog search. Dave’s a really nice guy, but I wouldn’t want to bet against Google on something so core to their mission and expertise. And Feedster’s in the same position.

The clowns have failed, so send in the mercenaries?

The Washington Post, The New York Times and various bloggers are reporting that the notorious mercenary company Blackwater has moved into New Orleans in force. So typical — this administration is so good at protecting some people’s property, and so bad at protecting our lives.

Through the kindness of Niall Kennedy, I get a new shiny toy to play with. I think it is going to be lots of fun to add more to the Bishop publishing empire. The new WordPress admin interface rocks.

If I wasn’t working 18/7 on Katrina related stuff, I’d stay up and play more with it, but time to hit the sack.
